Believe it or not! Yes it is like Riplye’s believe it or not. The following is the photo I saw in a mail received by me. I thought they were having fun in an open air tank with full of foam formed by soap. But it was not to be. It is said in the write up to that photo that it was a holy bath they were taking during Chath Puja. Being from South, I am not familiar with the chat puja. So I made some reference work and I came to know that it is a very important festival in certain parts of North India. This is what I read
Chhath Puja is observed for four days in Kartik month (October – November) in Bihar, Jharkhand and other parts of India after Diwali. Chath Puja 2015 dates as per Hindu calendar are November 17 (Sandhya Argh – Chhat Dala Evening puja) and November 18 (Suryodaya Argh – Chhath Dala Morning puja). Nahai Khai is on The puja and rituals are edicated to Surya, Kartikeaya, Agni and Chhathi Mayya. November 15, 2015 and Kharna is on November 16, 2015. The puja and rituals are edicated to Surya, Kartikeaya, Agni and Chhathi Mayya. The main rituals take place on the sixth and seventh day during the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon. The important rituals include strict fasting and offerings to Surya Bhagvan (Sun God) on river bank or seashore. They worship sun god by standing in the river and then take holy dip in the river. Almost all the rivers in India are considered holy and they relate to some God or goddess. Here in the photo one sees people taking a holy bath in the river Yamuna. This river joins the mighy Ganges.
In the above photo one sees The people living in the banks of Yamuna river while celebrating the festival do the Chath Bathe in the Yamuna River. What astonishes is the foam one see in the picture. it is formed due to pollution caused by the industrial contaminants and sewage allowed to flow into the river. In such water nothing can live
I refused to believe this. I started wondering how can any one reach god in this polluted river. This shows that faith can cloud the polluted river. I wonder why the Government should allow them to celebrate anything in such a polluted river. One should make a study of these devotees who have taken this dip in this “holy” river. I wonder what the officials are doing when this festivities are going on there. One should think about the aftermath of this bath. What disease they get after this bath and the amounts required for their treatment. i can go on writing on this subject but of what avail. I hope some good minded person will take note of this callous behaviour of both the “devotees” and the officials who have allowed them to have this “holy” dip in this most polluted river where one can see foam caused by the industrial contaminants .
