Was IPL – III the villain of T20 ?!

I wonder how Dhoni or for that matter, Yuvaraj, or Jadeja must be cursing the TV Channels for their continued diatribe It was TV that has given them name and fame by recognizing their games and all the publicity and enabled them to make money and now it is the same TV Channels which say ‘ yes Dhoni or Jadeja or Yuvraj, your time is over. Now take some rest and then we shall see whether we should recall you again. Play some domestic games – for god’s sake don’t think we are asking you to play IPL. You play Ranji Trophy or Duleep Trophy. The BCCI should Pay them well and ask them to donate 50% of their earnings for some charity. At least this will give them some blessings of the recipients – here they get only brick bats.

Let us be serious and dissect what our Captain Dhoni said immediately after losing the St Lucia match. He said that IPL and the party did not give them enough time to prepare for T20. Simple question that should be asked to Dhoni is did you not know that T20 would follow immediately after IPL. What did Dhoni say “ The players need to be smart because in IPL, there are other things going around. You have to travel a lot, so you have to respect your body and take care of it. If you don’t do that, then IPL is quite draining. If you are playing late night matches and attend parties, come back late in the night and travel the next day, then it takes a toll on your body”. Mr. Dhoni did you not know this before the start of IPL. This was IPL III. Knowing fully well and knowing that you have to take a team out there and bring victory for the country, how can you say that IPL drained the energy of the players. Which do you think Mr. Dhoni more important to you – Is it IPL or T 20 ? We Indians always think we are the best and our players can bring glory to our country. But when you and your men disappoint us we try to search for words to express our anguish. Ok, you had to attend parties after IPL. But who asked your team mates to have drinks at midnight as one Cricket enthusiast who saw your team in St. Lucia said. Why partying there when your team has to play the next day.

Again our Captain says “, “We are not performing to our potential. I can’t say why. But at the end of the day this is the best T20 side we have. It gets tough without players like Virender (Sehwag), Zaheer …” These are all excuses Mr. Dhoni. The old adage says ‘ Where there is a will, there is way.” What were you doing when Selectors were selecting players for T20. You knew pretty well that you were not taking the team for a gully tournament. You should have insisted on having the best players. You have disappointed the cricket lovers in India.. All our expectations were belied by you though you played well in IPL for CSK. In this T 20 what you lacked was commitment to the people of India for whom cricket, let me use the oft repeated words – is an obsession.

We know that you don’t care for our anger. You don’t care even if our pride is hurt. You have made known your attitude towards us cricket loving fans in the same press conference. Here is what you appear to have said “ As far as the sloganeering goes, I am not bothered about that. We try and do our best. We play for our country and we are more respectful to our country than those who do these sort of things. They can do whatever they want to,” fumed Dhoni.

OK Mr Dhoni, now it is all over. We will not raise slogans nor we will come to the airport to receive you and your team or bother you at all. No more slogans. But please tell us have you mastered the game of Beach Volleyball at least?! Wish you all the best!!!
